Shetland Young Promoters Group

The Shetland Young Promoters Group (SYPG) has met again for the first time since 2019 thanks to support from Time to Shine. 

The group aims to organise events, workshops and activities that promote youth participation in Shetland's art and music scene. The group is completely youth led but facilitated by partners in UHI, Shetland Islands Council and a freelance facilitator. 

The first meetings took place in January 2023 and have been a combination of awareness raising, demonstrating work from previous years (with guest presentations from local musicians and former participants) and recruiting young people who are interested in taking part. The age range will be anything between 14-26 and young people are looking to organise their first event before the end of March (which they are currently deciding on).
