YDance - National Youth Arts Advisory Group Forum for Dance

The Youth Dance Forum brought together 15 young people, aged 14-25 years from across Scotland who had experience in a range of different styles and types of dance sessions.

Connecting with young people involved with groups ran by organisations in the  Scottish youth dance network, the online sessions gave opportunity for young dancers to talk openly about the opportunities in their area, the barriers they face, what they would like to see happen and their wildest ideas for youth arts programmes for the future.

The group met twice online, and questions were conducted in person with the National Youth Dance company of Scotland.

This forum was led by Marcus Burns and Emma Read, members of the National Youth Dance Company and Anna and Kelly from YDance.

“Being given the opportunity to lead and help with this youth forum was a pleasure, I learn loads about leading. Being able to hear voices from all over the country discussing things I am most passionate was great!”

Marcus Burns, 2022

The youth dance forum was part of the National Youth Arts Advisory Group programme of work, supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland. The National Youth Arts Advisory Group supports children and young people to be heard, to lead and take action on the issues that are important to them.
